Charities Struggle to Meet Increased Demands for Employee Volunteering Opportunities
A survey completed by Red Foundation has found that charities are reporting a 75% increase in the numbers of companies looking for employee volunteering opportunities. The results of the survey, which ran last month, are still being analysed but early findings have found that:
- 75% of charities have seen an increase in the number of companies and other employers approaching them for employee volunteering opportunities
- However only 24% of companies say that they have received an increased interest from their general employees, with 27% seeing increased interest from senior management
- Although 47% of companies have a budget for employee volunteering programmes, only 18% currently pay for brokerage to source opportunities (some charities report that they have managed to gain payment if they push companies for a donation to cover their time)
- Charities are also seeing a marked increase in the number of local authorities and other public bodies seeking volunteering opportunities for their employees
